Commercial and Specialised Diving are regularly called upon to carry out maintenance, repair and survey work on underwater structures that have become covered in weeds, barnacles and debris. This build up of foreign matter is a physical and visual barrier to the work, which could be hiding large defects, and needs to be cleaned off the submerged structures before inspection or remedial work can take place.
Conventional jet washing equipment will not suffice underwater as it does not have sufficient pressure. Our divers use a special retro underwater lance. This lance is a quick and environmentally friendly method of target cleaning. The lance also does not cause physical damage, which can be a problem when using some mechanical methods of cleaning.
