With half term well underway, CSD have been carrying out repairs to school pools all around the country. Holiday closures are a great time to get repairs done in school pools as there needn’t be any disruption to the scheduled swimming lessons. Following reports of cut feet at a school in Wiltshire, our dive team was mobilised to site to make safe any defective tiles and to conduct a full condition survey of the pool and its surround.
Having done the survey, and provided the school with a report of our findings, we arranged to attend site during the school half term shutdown to make safe any health and safety hazards. This included replacing the sump grille shown above which had not been grouted when installed leading to sharp tiles edges around the sump. In addition the grilles had apertures greater than 8mm, which pose an entrapment hazard to users. CSD removed the failing grilles, cleaned out the debris within the sump pit and fitted High Density Polyethylene anti-vortex grilles.
The pool also featured open skimmer mouths which pose an entrapment hazard to pool users. The open mouths were covered with HDPE grilles that conform to current health and safety guidelines. These updates and many more were all carried out within a single shift and to the client’s satisfaction. We still have availability this week to carry out any half term repair works, alternatively take a look at our recent Christmas Shutdown Flyer and call us to discuss your Christmas shutdown repair works.
