Top Tip – Proud Grille Fixings

Back in July we wrote a newsletter article about supplementing your Health and Safety Checks with an annual underwater survey. This month we have been surveying lots of pools all over the country and we thought we would share with you a top tip relating to a common hazard which would be difficult to spot from the surface, even by the most eagle eyed maintenance manager.

It’s very difficult to spot missing fasteners from the surface but it’s even harder to identify fasteners that pose a cutting hazard to pool users because they sit proud of the grille. Countersunk screws have extremely sharp edges which is why they must be installed all the way down to the countersink, which you can see has been drilled into the grille.
